Different Types of Stretch Wraps and their Uses
There are various ways to categorize stretch films, but the most important ones are the gauge and manufacturing process employed.
Gauge is numerically assigned according to thickness and width. Both of these properties affect strength and elasticity. Increasing gauges are thicker and broader, and are thus more puncture-resistant and harder to stretch. The most commonly used is 80 gauge, which has a thickness of 20 microns or 0.0008 inches. Higher gauges require machines for stretching and utilized for much heavier loads.
